- Burnt Umber is a brown-black semi-transparent stain that has a medium sheen, on oak. A dark wiping stain is hand-applied, and dry-brushed to achieve the final deep dark color. Wire brushing allows the glaze to hang up and draw attention to the oak’s beautiful cathedrals and grain pattern. The physical distressing includes softened corners and edges, and wire brushing.
