Decorative temple jars are a mainstay of chinoiserie décor, but this is a traditional porcelain jar with a difference. Its high shoulders, small mouth, and domed lid are true in form to the original ginger jar, but it’s uniquely geometric, giving it a more eclectic (even modern) feel. Artisans use a time-honored technique to apply the glaze, which is smooth and glossy—and enchanting.
